Tehran Times - Former Iran national football team and Persepolis FC coach Stanko Poklepovic had his leg amputated from below the knee.

Poklepovic, 79, underwent the surgery at the hospital in Split, Croatia.

“I am ok at the moment and I’ll be back home soon,” Poklepovic told Slobodna Dalmacija.

Poklepovic took charge of Iran national football team in 1994 and was named Persepolis coach in 1995 and won the back-to-back Azadegan League titles with the Iranian giants.

Stanko Poklepovic has also coached Iranian football clubs Sepahan and Damash.

Poklepovic is a Croatian football coach and former football player. He is mostly famous for managing Hajduk Split in four different occasions during his career.
