Tasnim - Iran captain Jalal Hosseini surpassed former Team Melli winger Mehdi Mahdavikia, who fulfilled national duty 110 times between 1996 and 2009.

Hosseini has become Iran's fourth most capped player in history with 111 games after featuring with the Team Melli against Togo on Thursday.

Javad Nekounam is Iran’s most capped player with 151 games, followed by Ali Daei (149) and Ali Karimi (127).

The Persepolis captain came off the bench in the second half in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, where Carlos Queiroz’s team defeated its African rival 2-0 in a friendly match.

Hosseini debuted for the senior national team in a friendly match against Belarus in February 2007.

He has scored eight goals for Iran national football team.
