Tehran Times - Persepolis football team defeated Baadraan Tehran 2-1 to qualify for Iran’s Hazfi Cup quarter-final on Friday.

Godwin Mensha found the back of the net from the penalty spot in the 36th minute.

Mehrdad Rezaei equalized the match with a header four minutes later.

Persepolis dominated the match in the second half and Shoja Khalilzadeh headed the ball on target to make it 2-1.

“First of all, I have to congratulate Baadraan coaching staff and players because they are a strong team. We didn’t take them for granted and I am happy we booked a place in the quarters,” Persepolis coach Branko Ivankovic said in the post-match news conference.

Persepolis will play Sanat Naft Abadan on Tuesday in the Hazfi Cup quarters.
