BBC - Bayer Leverkusen fell deeper into relegation trouble on Saturday after last season's Bundesliga runners-up were beaten 2-1 by VfL Bochum. Bochum's Iranian substitute Vahid Hashemian, who came on in the 60th minute, bagged a brace as Leverkusen suffered a third successive league defeat. Leverkusen are now just one point above the relegation zone. Hashemian's second goal came just six minutes from time after Croatian midfielder Marko Babic had equalised in the 78th minute for Leverkusen. Financially-troubled Kaiserslautern, bottom at the start of play, beat Borussia Moenchengladbach 2-0. The win saw Kaiserslautern climb above Energie Cottbus - who drew 0-0 at Hansa Rostock - on goal difference. Leverkusen have 20 points, three more than Cottbus. Werder Bremen's 2-1 home defeat by TSV 1860 Munich means they stay third behind Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. Bayern, leading with 43 points, play Hamburg SV on Sunday while fourth-placed VfB Stuttgart (33) play champions Dortmund (36). Saturday Sunday |
