IRNA - Persepolis celebrated
the new Iranian year with a victory in the 18th week of Iran Pro League (IPL)
over visitor Abu Moslem on Sunday with the sole goal of the match struck by
striker Sohrab Entezari.
Entezari headed home an Ebrahim Assadi corner in the 13th minute to add
three points to his side's asset.
A long holiday and uneven pitch of Takhti Stadium cause the two teams play a
spiritless, slow, and error-prone match refereed by Hossein Yadi.
In its last six league matches, Persepolis has not won even a match. The
reds managed to beat San'at Naft of Abadan 1-0 in the ninth week.
Persepolis is now at the fourth place of IPL table with 28 points and two
matches in hand.
Winning 35 points, Sepahan of Isfahan is the leader with one match in hand.

Foulad stuns Sepahan
Visitor Barq of Shiraz defeated the relegation-zone San'at Naft in Abadan on
Sunday and the Khuzestani
side Foulad extracted three points out of the match against Sepahan in
Isfahan.
Playing an 18th-week match of Iran Pro League (IPL), Barq worsened the
conditions of Naft in its first new Iranian year clash as it won 2-1 in
Takhti Stadium of Abadan.
Abdollah Qossi scored the first goal for Shirazi side in the 24th minute and
his teammate Jahanbakhsh Ja'fari made it 2-0 ten minutes later.
Farrokh Esmaeilov scored Naft consolation goal four minutes before the
break.
Referee Jalal Moradi and his two linesmen Mohammad Pirouzram and Fereydoun
Jabbari judged the match.
Over 8,000 fans watched the derby.
Naft has 15 points out of 18 matches, standing above the two bottom-placed
sides, Malavan and Abu Moslem, with 15 and 14 points and one match in hand.
*FOULAD STUNS SEPAHAN AT HOME
Visitor Foulad of Khuzestan on Sunday gave the leader Sepahan a surprising
loss in the 18th week of IPL.
The southern side, Foulad, struck three in a pulsating match to hand Sepahan
of Isfahan a 3-2 defeat in an empty Naqsh-e Jahan Stadium.
Sepahan took the lead in the 25th minute as Leon Estepanian fired home.
Ehsan Shiri leveled the match on 39 minutes and his teammate Mohammad Alavi
made it 2-1 four minutes later, giving Foulad a 2-1 win in the first half.
Asghar Taleb-Nassab secured the parity after one minute into the second half
but this was Adel Zoveidavi poured cold water on Isfahanis as he grabbed the
winner three minutes into the injury time.
Ali Khosravi refereed the match in an empty stadium as the Disciplinary
Committee of Iran's Football Federation offered Sepahan a 250-dollar fine a
fan-free match for the violation of Sepahan supporters in its match against
Esteqlal of Tehran. Sepahan is still the leader of league with 35 points and
one match in hand.
*Esteqlal of Ahvaz beats Zob, Fajr-SAIPA
derby ends 1-1
Esteqlal of Ahvaz won its home clash against the Isfahan-based Zob Ahan but
Fajr-e Sepassi of Shiraz did not make it and tied with visitor SAIPA in the
18th week of Iran Pro League (IPL) on Sunday.
In Takhti Stadium of Ahvaz, Esteqlal netted twice to see off Zob Ahan with a
2-1 loss.
Adriana Aloz scored the first goal of Esteqlal on 25 minutes that was
responded by Ebrahim Taqipour who scored the equalizer in the 41st minute.
Kazem Mahmoudi scored the winner for Esteqlal 14 minutes into the second
half.
Mohsen torki and the two linesmen Javad Taqipour and Hamid Sabet judged the
match watched by some five thousand spectators.
Esteqlal of Ahvaz has 18 points out of 18 matches, standing in the 11th
place of IPL table.
In Hafezieh Stadium, Shiraz, Fajr-e Sepassi
and SAIPA fought to a 1-1 draw.
Mehrzad Ma'danchi put Fajr ahead in the 26th minute as he converted a
penalty.
Mohammad Soltani leveled the derby 12 minutes later when he found the host's
net.
Mehdi Honarvari assisted by linesmen Shoja'at Mohammadi and Safdar Ahmadi
refereed the match.
Of 18 matches, Fajr has 27 points and is at the sixth place while SAIPA has
won 22 points out of 17 matches, standing in the ninth place.
*Aqaei double helps Pas past Paykan
Abbas Aqaei hit two on Sunday to give his side Pas a 2-0 victory over Paykan
in the 18th week of Iran Pro
League. Aqaei scored the opener in the seventh minute and doubled his
own and Pas scoring two minutes before the break.
Assisted by his two linesmen Masoud Fallah and Amir Davoudzadeh, referee
Iraj Nazari judged the match.
Pas has won 28 points out of 18 matches, standing in the third place of
table and Paykan is the fifth-placed side with 28 points.
