IRNA - Contract extension talks between German first division club Hamburger SV and its Iranian striker Mehdi
Mahdavikia have been "put on ice for now", a team spokesman told IRNA on Tuesday.
"The talks have been put on ice for now. There is no time pressure for us," said Gerd Krall, referring to his club's plans to prematurely extend Mahdavikia's contract beyond the summer of next year.
He refused to speculate as to when the negotiations would resume. "It's difficult to say when the talks would start again," he added.
Krall also downplayed media reports that several English Premier League teams, among them Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle United, have been interested in signing the former Pirouzi player.
"The inquiries have not been that great," Krall said. Meanwhile Mahdavikia has again signalled his willingness to play for Hamburg next season.
"I expect to stay in Hamburg," he was quoted as saying in the bi-weekly kicker sports magazine.
The soft-spoken 25-year-old player had a superb Bundesliga season this year, helping his team to qualify for the upcoming European Cup.
