Timesofindia - African Champions Cameroon leads a field of eight nations — four each from Asia and Africa — in the inaugural Afro-Asian Games beginning in Hyderabad later this month.

“Cameroon, Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso and Rwanda from Africa and Iran, Uzbekistan, Malaysia and hosts India from Asia will participate in the Games,” All India Football Federation president Priyaranjan Dasmunsi said on Tuesday.

“Except for Iran, who will send their Olympic team, the rest will coming with their national teams,” he said. Dasmunsi said the Indian team for the tournament would be picked after they return from their two friendly fixtures against Thailand. According to earlier reports,

African powerhouses Cameroon, Nigeria, South Africa and Morocco were expected to represent Africa with Japan and China expected to lead the Asian challenge.

But as per the latest information, Cameroon is the top team while Iran comes next in ranking.
