SoccerWat – One day after Werder Bremen dethroned Bayern Munich in Munich, the Bundesliga was back with two interesting matches. Bochum got ahead of Dortmund again in the race for an UEFA Cup spot with a 3-0 victory against Freiburg.

The game had only started in Bochum when Peter Madsen got the first chance of the game in the 2nd minute. Freiburg’s defense were not able to clear the ball and Vahid Hashemian lifted the ball towards the far post where Peter Madsen waited and converted with a header.

Bochum were determined to win this game and add three important points to their account. The first half saw a very good start by Bochum who were able to profit from Freiburg’s lack of concentration in the starting minutes.

In the second half, Bochum needed eight minutes to score another goal. Paul Freier set up the ball for the Iranian striker Vahid Hashemian who connected from near the penalty spot for the 2-0 lead.

In the 69th minute, Ellery Cairo from Freiburg was unlucky when he scored an own goal after a free kick taken by Miroslav Stevic. Cairo jumped higher than Bochum's striker Peter Madsen but only to hit his own net.

With this win Bochum is back on track for the last available UEFA Cup spot in the league. They are now two points ahead of their main contenders from Dortmund. Freiburg are six points ahead of relegation and should be through.
