Al Wasl appoint Begovich

AFC -  Dubai side Al Wasl announced the signing on Monday of Croatian coach Vingo Begovich, formerly in charge of Iranian giants Pirouzi.

Begovich has signed a one-year contract with Al Wasl and will take over from Brazilian coach Arthur, who led the team to this season's Emirates League championship playoff where they failed to register a single point, losing all of their six matches against champions Al Ain, Al Ahli and Al Shabab.

Pirouzi, winners of the inaugural Asian Cup Winners' Cup in 1990 and eight-time Iranian league champions, had a disappointing 2003/04 season as they finish in fourth place behind Tehran city rivals Pas and Esteghlal.
