New Hamburg coach urges Mahdavikia to show real skills

IRNA - New Hamburger SV coach Thomas Doll called on his Iranian forward Mehdi Mahdavikia who is currently undergoing a football slump, to once again show his real capabilities, the biweekly Kicker sports magazine reported Thursday.
Asked about his dismal performance during the fist eight matches of the Bundesliga season, Doll responded, "Every professional player has a down phase.
"Mahdavikia should remind himself of the times when he bedazzled the masses and the whole stadium called his name."
He said Mahdavikia and his Bosnian teammate Sergei Barbarez have played below their normal capabilities.
Doll also ruled out Hamburg`s possible relegation into the second Bundesliga division.
Hamburg is currently ranked last in the 18-team German professional football league.
