IRNA - Esteqlal of Tehran striker Reza
Enayati persisted that the referee Mohsen Qahremani played a role in
depriving his side of a victory over Sepahan in last Friday`s league match
in Isfahan.
The lanky forward voiced his readiness to defend his remarks in the court.
The controversy sparked as some papers, in their Sunday`s edition, quoted
Enayati as saying that the referee Qahremani told the striker he would not
allow Esteqlal to win the match.
Iranian Football Federation`s Arbitration Committee lodged a complaint
with the IFF`s Disciplinary Committee against the footballer Sunday.
Enayati told IRNA Sunday that he would prove his words in the court,
calling for an immediate Disciplinary Committee session.
He added three of his teammates, Hossein Kazemi, Alireza Mansourian, and
Farzad Majidi, also heard the referee`s statement while Sepahan keeper
Seyed Mehdi Rahmati rejected Enayati`s claim.
The goalie, who talked to IRNA, said, "I swear that Qahremani did not make
such a statement."
Sepahan came from 2-0 down to hold Esteqlal to a 2-2 tie in the 15th week
of the fourth Iran Pro League in Naqsh-e Jahan Stadium in Isfahan.
Esteqlal is in the fourth place of the 16-team table on 25 points and
Sepahan has occupied the 10th slot, winning 19 points.
