Fansfc - Kia Joorbachian claims to be close to
completing a takeover of West Ham United Football Club.
The Iranian businessman is the owner of Media Sports Investments, and after
seizing control and changing the fortunes of Brazilian side Corinthians, he
is looking to do the same for the Hammers.
The millionaire claims to have been offered the chance to buy Newcastle
United and Tottenham Hotspur, yet ultimately decided on Premiership new-boys
West Ham.
"I was offered Newcastle, West Ham and somebody said that Spurs could be
bought at the right price, but being an Arsenal fan I could never buy
Tottenham!" Joorbachian told the Express.
"We have had two or three conversations with West Ham and I plan to speak
with them again. They are £31 million in debt. Any package would have to be
worth £70 million but would have to take into account that debt.
"I want to buy a Premiership club and West Ham seem the most likely because
they are in London and the price would not be too prohibitive."
