Reuters - Angola have dropped striker
Mantorras for a friendly match against fellow World Cup finalists South
Korea in Seoul on March 1, the Angolan Football Federation announced on
Sunday.
Mantorras was critical of coach Luis Oliveira Goncalves after failing to
start a match at the recent African Nations Cup finals in Egypt, where
Angola did not make it past the first round.
The Benfica striker was used as a second-half substitute in two of the
three matches that Angola played.
Brought into the 20-man squad for the trip to Korea is the uncapped Rui
Marques, who plays at Leeds United in England, Zuela and defender Marco
Airosa.
Six players from the squad at the Nations Cup finals in Egypt have been
dropped, including Mantorras.
It is Angola's first match since the Nations Cup and their second trip
to Asia in the last four months. In November they lost 1-0 to a
last-minute goal in a friendly against Japan in Tokyo.
Angola have been drawn against Iran, Mexico and Portugal at the World
Cup finals in Germany in June.
