Jadransport - Because Romania wasn't able to
keep their word for the friendly match in May, Croatian Football Association
(HNS) quickly found an opponent to fill in the gap and it appears to be the
national selection of Iran which is managed by a Croatian coach Branko
Ivankovic.
With that Zlatko Kranjcar completed his list of try out duels before the
World Cup. First Croatia will clash with Austria on May 23rd while the game
with Iran will follow five days later and then his team will play against
Poland on April 2nd while the final test will be the match with Spain in
Geneva on April 7th.
It's interesting that Croatia played against Iran also before the 1998 World
Cup in France. Then under the helm of Miroslav Blazevic “Vatreni” won the
bronze medal mostly thanks to great performance of Davor Suker, Robert Jarni,
Zvonimir Boban, Robert Prosinecki and Drazen Ladic (none of these players
are any more active).
