| Berlin, May 27, IRNA -- Iranian football international and Hamburg forward Mehdi Mahdavikia will miss the 2002/3 Bundesliga opener in August following his back surgery, the daily Frankfurter Rundschau reported here Tuesday. Mahdavikia is still recuperating from a disc operation last February and has not played for Hamburg since then. The Iranian's last club match was on February 16 during his team 2-1 loss at Borussia Moenchengladbach. The former Pirouzi striker whose contract runs until 2004, has repeatedly been the subject of trade rumors in Hamburg. |
