AFC - Iranian veteran Karim Bagheri has
extended his contract with Tehran’s Persepolis for two more years.
The 32-year-old sweeper was one of the best players in the league last
season in which the Arie Haan-led Persepolis finished ninth among 16 teams.
“I have renewed my deal and want to be more effective in the club’s future
successes,” said Bagheri, who has been the mainstay of Persepolis’ backline
since joining them two years back from Qatari heavyweights Al Sadd.
Bagheri, who has earlier done stints with Bundesliga outfit Arminia
Bielefeld and English Premier League club Charlton Athletic, is expected to
play a key, motivated role after the extension of his contract in the
upcoming Hazfi Cup final in which Persepolis clash with Sepahan.
The defender has collected 80 caps for Team Melli and scored 47 goals.
