Xinhua - Jordan will take on Iran in the
second leg of Group D in the Olympic Games soccer qualifier (second round)
on April 18 at the King Abdullah Hussain Stadium in Amman.
After three matches, Saudi Arabia are leading in Group D with six points
followed by Australia on five points, while Iran and Jordan have two points
each.
Jordan's U-23 team held Iran to a goalless draw, snatched a dramatic late
1-1 draw with Australia, and lost to Saudi Arabia 1-0 in the opening match.
Iran lost to Saudi Arabia 1-0 and were held to a goalless draw with
Australia.
Jordan's head coach Nihad Souqar said that players were optimistic and
adamant to move further in the qualifiers.
"We will play for a win. The players were impressive in the two back-to-back
away matches against Iran and Australia and we hope to build on our
remaining matches," Nihad Souqar was quoted by the Jordan Times as saying.
