AFC - AFC Champions League 2007 runners-up Sepahan have been severely sanctioned by the Iran Football Federation s (IFF) disciplinary committee after a security officer was seriously injured from a firework thrown by a supporter during their 2-1 Iran Pro League (IPL) win over Perspolis.

In addition to being docked five points, Sepahan have been fined over US$21,500 and must play their IPL home matches outside of Esfahan for the next three months.

It has also been reported that the security officer, who is expected to lose the sight in both eyes as a result of the incident, will receive over US$50,000 in compensation from Sepahan.

Meanwhile, the behaviour of Perspolis fans towards Sepahan officials and the match referees has led to a fine of more than US$21,500 for the eight-time Iranian champions, who must also play their next home match behind closed doors.
