Iran, Clemente solve differences

PTV - Iran's Football Federation is talking with Javier Clemente to reach a compromise on where he lives when coaching the national team.

Successful talks were conducted with Clemente in the past two days. He said he will stay in Iran for training the Iranian team, president of the Iranian federation, Ali Kafashian told ISNA.

"Clemente promised he will stay in Iran until the end of the first round of Iran's 2010 World Cup qualifying matches, and at the end of the fround when the national team camp is out of action, he will head to Europe to monitor matches of foreign-based Iranian players in Europe," he added.

The federation has requested the veteran La Liga coach to present his plans in detail and called on him "to mention duration of presence in Iran in the contract".

The issue would be finalized within the next two days, he added.

Earlier Clemente had suggested that he would not live in Iran but commute to the Islamic Republic from his native Spain. However, the Iran Football Federation turned down his suggestion saying that the country does not want a "remote control coach".

The 58-year-old Spaniard agreed to steer the national soccer team on February 11.
