GOAL - Persepolis crashed 2-1
to Rah Ahan in their Iran Pro League match on Wednesday.
Despite their lowly league
position, Rah Ahan took the game to Persepolis and were rewarded for their
efforts. Meysam Baou put Rah Ahan ahead just 20 minutes into the match. His
powerful header gave Persepolis goalkeeper Mehdi Vaezi no chance at all.
Rah Ahan doubled their lead in the 30th minute when Ahamad Taghavi as he
fired home from close range.
Persepolis boss Afshin Ghotbi made two changes to the forward line – as they
were without injured Croatian striker Mate Dragicevic. However, the league
leaders clinched a consolation goal through midfielder Alireza Nikbakht
Vahedi with 20 minutes remaining.
Rah Ahan custodian Vaezi was sent off two minutes later. But Persepolis
failed to find the equaliser as the Rah Ahan defence held on stubbornly to
thwart the wave of attacks.
With the victory, Rah Ahan moved up to 12th place while Persepolis remain at
the top of the table.
