Persianmirror - The Iranian Football Federation (IRIFF) has invited Scotland for a friendly football match to be played in Tehran in May, the two sides last played each other in world cup 1978 with honours shared in a 1-1 draw with Iran scoring both goals (one an own goal).

Only last week Iran were still in desperate search for a head coach but a lot has happened since then, Ali Daei was appointed as the head coach and within 48 hours News of friendly matches spread through Iranian media.

But the BBC have now confirmed that Iran have invited Scotland to play a match in Tehran in May, this match would benefit both sides; Iran have started their world cup 2010 campaign and would benefit from a friendly match against an European side such as Scotland, the Scots hoping to qualify for the next world cup would equally benefit from playing a top Asian side, Scotland might well find themselves drawn against an Asian side in the world cup therefore playing Iran would be a good experience for Scotland.
