PTV - Head coach of the
Iranian women's football team is satisfied with performance of her side
despite the squad's 4-1 loss against Vietnam.
"After two years, we had a convincing performance in the opener of the Asian
Football Confederation (AFC) Women's Asian Cup qualifiers," Shahrzad
Mozaffar said after the match at Ho Chi Minh City's Thanh Long Stadium on
Monday.
"Undoubtedly, we would have acted better if our team was founded sooner and
we did not make the mistakes we had done today," she added.
"I am satisfied with my players since they have done their best," Mozaffar
noted, adding that the team has an ambitious goal to finish among the top
eight squads in the next Asian Cup.
The Vietnam's women's football team thrashed Iran 4-1 in their first game of
the 2008 AFC Women's Asian Cup on Monday. Iran will play its next match
against Southeast Asia's reining champions Myanmar on March 26.
Iran is grouped with Vietnam, Chinese Taipei and Myanmar in Group A, while
the Group B includes Thailand, the Republic of Korea, the Philippines and
Malaysia.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the final round which is
slated for May 28 to June 8 in Malaysia.
