Esteqlal to select a new coach

PTV - The managing director of Tehran's popular soccer team Esteqlal, Ali Fatholahzadeh, has declared that the club is to select a new head coach.

Amir Ghalenoei, Parviz Mazloumi, and Mostafa Denizli are the three choices to replace Firouz Karimi, said Fatholahzadeh on Friday.

Fatholahzadeh pointed out that he would announce the new coach in a few days' time after reviewing the three coaches' programs.

According to the managing director, Sadeq Varmazyar will temporarily steer the team until the new coach is selected.

Firouz Karimi handed in his resignation which was accepted by Fatholahzadeh and the club's board of directors on Thursday.

Esteqlal currently ranks tenth in the Iranian Premier League table with 43 points.
