Berlin, Aug 14, IRNA -- Iranian football
international and Hamburger SV forward Mehdi Mahdavikia on Wednesday was
declared fit and could play in this weekend's match at Werder Bremen, the
team's press service announced. Mahadvikia completed a full training session
with the pro-team and did not feel any pain as a result of a back surgery
performed on
him last February. The Iranian star played 56 minutes last Sunday for
Hamburg's third division amateur club in its 1-1 draw against SV Babelsberg.
The game was aimed at catching up on Mahdavikia's playing time following his
long recovery from a complicated disc surgery.
Mahdavikia whose contract runs until 2004, played his last match for Hamburg
on February 16 during his squad's 2-1 loss at Borussia Moenchengladbach.
