With one month left to beginning of 9th edition of Iran’s Professional League (IPL), Persepolis has yet to choose its coach.
Ivankovic had been one of the candidates to take charge of the team but Persepolis officials did not reveal it.
“Thanks to Persepolis’ inclination to appoint me as the coach but I am not going to head the team,” the Croat said.
Branko said he has no intention to come back to Iran at the moment.
The 55-year old coach steered Iran to the 2006 World Cup. He inspired Iran’s U-23 team to win the 2002 Asian Games in Busan.
Persepolis had held negotiations with Spaniard Benito Floro Sanz, German Klaus Toppmoller and Croat Luka Peruzovic.
The team is negotiating with former Netherlands defender Wim Rijsbergen now.
