PTV - Former Persepolis board member Ali Saeidlou has been appointed as the head of Iran's Physical Education Organization (PEO).

In a statement issued by the office of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Saeidlou was appointed as a vice-president and the PEO head.

Saeidlou replaced Mohammad Aliabadi, who has been nominated by Ahmadinejad as the Minister of Energy.

He was proposed as the oil minister by Ahmadinejad in 2005 during his first term but failed to win the Parliament's vote of confidence.

Saeidlou, 57, was the head of Iranian soccer club Persepolis' board of executives between November 2005 and June 2008.
