Before 50,000 spectators at the Yadegar-e Emam Stadium, Persepolis beat first division Gostaresh Foolad thanks to a lone goal scored by captain Sheis Rezaei in the 12th minute.
Gostaresh foolad showed a better performance in the second half and put Persepolis under pressure, but to no avail.
Persepolis’ out of form striker Mohsen Khalili missed a penalty kick with one minute remaining.
